Tech/Sci-fi movies to binge these holidays!
We all need a break from our regular work routine sometimes and watching a movie is a fun, short break we all can catch on a holiday!
So, here are some suggestions for you to catch a little break this season, with blankets and hot chocolate ;)
The Matrix: Resurrections
The buzz around this is real. The Matrix is a long series of classic Sci-Fi movies. To find out if his reality is a construct, to truly know himself, Mr. Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more.
Dune
This film is based on the same-named novel published in 1965. Humans discover a drug that transforms them into superhumans with longer lives and enhanced mental ability in a bleak society. When the mining operation is handed over to a novice, a war to control this chemical begins. Fans of science fiction are ecstatic about this film, which is one of the most anticipated of the year.
Lapsis
Lapsis is a 2020 science fiction film written and directed by Noah Hutton. Set in a parallel universe where everything is run on quantum computing, Lapsis follows Ray, a down-and-out man caring for his degenerative-disease-affected brother who decides to try to make some extra money by becoming a “quantum cabler,” joining an organisation that sends people out into the woods with a backpack and fiberoptic cord. As he gets pulled deeper into the zone, he encounters growing hostility and the threat of robot cablers, and must choose to either help his fellow workers or to get rich and get out.
The Circle
“The Circle” tells the storey of Mae, a contact centre intern who works for The Circle, a social media firm. The firm gradually introduces new features, such as installing tiny cameras across the city to monitor citizens and requiring that all citizens have a Circle account before voting. The film is a disturbing depiction of what our planet might (or already does?) look like in the not-too-distant future. “I did not build this; this is not what I had in mind,” one of the software developer admits in the film. It’s a stark warning of how, if we’re not vigilant, technology might take us past the point of no return.
Code 8
Code 8 is a 2019 Canadian science fiction action film written and directed by Jeff Chan, about a man with superpowers who works with a group of criminals to raise money to help his sick mother. It depicts a world in which a small percentage of the population is born with superhuman talents. However, instead of achieving prosperity, they are subjected to discrimination and live in poverty. Naturally, some people turn to criminal activity.
And those were some of my favourite recommendations to give out ! Hope you like them and have nice and safe holidays!
